The City of Lévis welcomes Branchez-Vous 2018
The public is invited to try plug-in vehicles

Lévis, Friday, June 1st, 2018 – On June 1st and 2nd, the City of Lévis is hosting the Branchez-Vous 2018 Lévis event, an initiative of the Innovative Vehicle Institute (IVI), which allows motorists to test drive plug-in vehicles for free.

Over 760 motorists in Chaudière-Appalaches (including nearly 380 in Lévis) have already made the choice to drive electric[1], a growth of 80% compared to 2017. Between the offer increase at dealerships and recent gas price rise, more and more consumers are exploring the plug-in vehicle as an option for their next car. An electric vehicle is four times less costly to operate than a comparable gasoline model, and the gap grows with each price spike at the pump.

Thanks to the support of the Gouvernement du Québec and Hydro-Québec, as well as the collaboration of car manufacturers Chevrolet, Hyundai, Nissan, Ford and Honda and local dealers, participants in the event Branchez-Vous 2018 Lévis (June 1st and 2nd, 2018) will discover the pleasures of electric driving, compare the features of several models and identify the vehicle(s) that can meet their needs. “In the first four months of 2018, there were more plug-in vehicles sold in Quebec than during the whole of 2014. A wider selection makes it possible to meet the needs of more consumers who, following their tests at Branchez-Vous, better measure all the benefits of driving electric” adds Stéphane Pascalon, project coordinator at IVI.

In Lévis, seven (7) makes of vehicles are represented with 10 plug-in models available for testing. In addition to manufacturer support, dealer involvement grants access to a wider range of vehicles, enabling more consumers to find a model that can meet their needs.

To participate in tests at Branchez-Vous 2018 Lévis, a registration is necessary. There are only a few places left, but organizers invite interested motorists to come visit the event’s home area (UQAR, Lévis campus at 1595, boulevard Alphonse-Desjardins) to verify available slots. Whether they come for test drives or not, visitors will be able to pick up a copy of the Branchez-Vous 2018 brochure, see plug-in vehicles on display and interact with volunteer EV drivers. Several exhibitors are also present: Elmec, manufacturer of the EVduty charging station, the Association des Véhicules Électriques du Québec (AVÉQ), the Collegia Group – Cégep of Rivière-du-Loup (with an electric ATV on display) and the Gouvernement du Québec, to inform visitors about government incentives. In addition, co-author of “L’Auto Électrique … et plus” (Éditions de l’Homme) Daniel Breton will be present on Saturday, June 2nd from 9am to 2pm to meet the public and sign dedications. At last, one of the first Tesla Model 3 owners in Quebec will be there on Saturday, June 2nd from 10am to noon.

City of Lévis, hosting Branchez-Vous 2018 – The City of Lévis has been contributing to the electrification of transport for many years thanks to the City of Lévis’ Sustainable Development Action Plan (link in French). Lévis is the first city in the Chaudière-Appalaches region to have made a public fast charging station available. The City of Lévis also installed the first fast charging station in Québec to be located along Highway 20 (2015).
