September 9, 2016
September 9th, 2016 – During the weekend of September 10th and 11th, thousands of car enthusiasts will converge at the Super Auto Show presented by The Car Guide at the Circuit iCar in Mirabel. Among the attractions, visitors will discover the Electric Zone hosted by the Branchez-Vous team with the presence of several plug-in vehicle models and road tests on a closed circuit.
Support of the Quebec government
Branchez-Vous’ participation in this important automotive event is made possible through the collaboration of the Quebec Government as part of its support program for the promotion of transportation electrification, one of the measures of the Transportation Electrification Action Plan 2015-2020, funded through the Green Fund. “The benefits of electric driving are still unrecognized. It is therefore essential to focus on promotion and awareness-raising activities, which will help debunk some myths or some fears about electric motorisation. By supporting Branchez-Vous, the Government confirms its commitment to electrifying transportation and thus reducing greenhouse gas emissions,” said Minister of Transport, Sustainable mobility and Transportation electrification, Mr. Laurent Lessard.1
“Through the Green Fund, whose revenues come mainly from the carbon market, the government supports Quebec institutions in their transition to a low carbon world. In addition to promoting the recovery and sustainable development of our economy, this concrete measure, which aligns with our 2013-2020 Action Plan on Climate Change, helps us fight together against climate change in order to ensure quality of life for our children. Let’s do it for them!” added the Minister of Sustainable development, Environment and Fight against Climate Change, David Heurtel.1
Meeting the car enthusiasts
The Innovative Vehicle Institute, initiator of the Branchez-Vous events as part of its educational mission, wants to increase the visibility of plug-in vehicles during public automobile events in addition to organizing specific events for such cars. The Super Auto Show makes it possible to reach people passionate by automobiles in general. In the Electric Zone, visitors will be able to speak with our experts, also passionate about their vehicles!
Nissan, Chevrolet and Ford, Branchez-Vous 2017 partners
The Branchez-Vous team has been working since its first edition in 2012 in close collaboration with the automotive industry, and manufacturers Nissan, Chevrolet and Ford have recently confirmed their support for the Branchez-Vous 2017 edition. This renewed support demonstrates the industry’s interest in our ride & drive events that allow dealers to meet motorists who wish to familiarize themselves with offered plug-in models for a future purchase.
Ten plug-in models in the Electric Zone
Among the vehicles shown in the Electric Zone at the Super Auto Show, we will find the popular Nissan LEAF, Chevy Volt and Ford Fusion Energi as well as the Kia Soul EV, the Tesla Model S, the Mitsubishi i-MiEV, the Chevrolet Spark EV and the Smart ED. Lastly, visitors will certainly be interested to see more closely the Tesla Model X and Chevrolet Bolt, a 100% electric car whose marketing is planned for winter 2017.
Drag night with Club Tesla Québec
Club Tesla Québec which will exhibit cars in the Electric Zone at the Super Auto Show will also be at the iCar Drag Night on Saturday September 10th (from 6pm to 10pm)! Tesla owners invite other motorists (electric or not) to join the evening to test their cars on the track (quarter mile) or to watch the show! This is a great opportunity to be a direct witness of the acceleration power of Tesla vehicles with their “insane” or “ludicrous” modes that are the subject of numerous online videos!
Pilot Academy shooting
Another attraction of the Super Auto Show’s Electric Zone will be the presence of the filming crew for the TV show Pilot Academy, going green. The famous RDS star show is back and will challenge Quebec celebrities on a race track littered with obstacles. But beware, no more gas, no more oil, and only plug-in electric cars. The show will air on RDS in spring 2017 and will feature host and driver Annie-Soleil Proteau and doctor of sports psychology Sylvain Guimond. Several sequences of the show will be shot during the weekend and the public is invited to come and watch in silence…
